About the Role

Memorial Veterinary Pet Care Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of dog handling and training. As a Kennel Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care while providing exceptional customer service to pet owners. 

We are looking for someone who has the following qualities: 

• Love animals

• Capable of physical labor 

• Reliable transportation 

• Strong organizational skills  

Responsibilities: 

• Cleaning and maintenance of pet kennels, cat condos, general boarding areas, and kitchen 

• Feeding and watering pets 

• Monitoring pet belonging 

• Monitoring for any abnormalities 

• Laundering duties 

• Administering meds 

• Treating guests, co-workers and customers in a professional, courteous manner 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

• Assisting other coworkers and performing other duties as needed 

• General maintaining  

Requirements: 

• Dog/Cat boarding background preferred. Some dog handling skills and comfortable with all breeds and sizes of dogs 

• Must be able to make quick and educated decisions when it comes to dog interaction. 

• Knowledge of general dog behavioral cues, indicators and health issues to watch for. 

• Must have strong communication skills 

• Be willing and able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). 

• High volume of cleaning up dog messes feces and kennels when required. 

• Cleaning, maintaining and sanitizing all pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas. 

• Must be able to frequently lift 45 pounds 

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills 

• Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets
